Take your Metabolic Fingerprint

Live Nutrition is pleased to be the first and only location  on Cape Cod to provide the testing to determine your Metabolic Fingerprint using the MedGem technology.

The Metabolic Fingerprint is your own unique measurement of your resting metabolic rate, the measure of how many calories you actually burn at rest each day. Metabolic rate cannot be accurately determined by using a theoretical calculation. This rate can vary from person to person depending on their body composition (amount of muscle and fat), actual weight, change in weight, age, gender, and genetic inheritance. Re-measuring your metabolic rate as you lose weight may be a valuable assessment tool to insure your continued progress and long-term success.

At your appointment we will ask you to sit quietly and relax for at least 10 minutes before you begin the measurement. During the measurement you will breathe into a handheld device for 5-10 minutes. When the measurement is complete, your Metabolic Fingerprint will appear on the screen of the device and you will know exactly how many calories you need each day.

How to Prepare for Your Metabolic Fingerprint Measurement

There are certain guidelines you need to follow to get an accurate measurement of your resting metabolic rate (RMR), the number of calories you burn each day at rest with little or no activity:

Do not eat for at least 4 hours

Do not exercise for at least 4 hours (aerobic or strength training)

Do not consume caffeine or nutritional supplements or medications containing ephedrine, Ma Huang or pseudo ephedrine for 4 hours

• Do not smoke or use nicotine for at least 1 hour
• You should rest in a seated or reclining position for 10-15 minutes before the measurement (minimize speaking and movement). Please arrive 15 minutes prior your appointment and have a seat in the lobby. We will escort you in for this test when ready.
